FTCE General Knowledge Essay Test TopicsPreparing for the FTCE General Knowledge Essay Test topics should start in early December and continue throughout January. The FTCE Essay test is usually conducted in late January through early February.A student should be aware of the type of test he will be taking. There are two different types of tests; the Continuous Control Essay Test (CCET) and the Cross-table Multiple Choice Essay Test (CMCT). Both of these tests can be taken during the summer months.The Continuous Control Essay Test is a timed test that consists of three distinct sections. Each section is a self-paced quiz that includes multiple choice questions that will assess a student's current knowledge and/or skills. These quizzes are designed to measure the student's response time and comprehension level, and are used to examine the student's ability to perform the job or responsibility with which he is dealing.The Continuous Control Essay Test requires students to fill out three forms which include the unit paper, the writing task form, and the items to be completed. In addition, there is a requirement that each student is to complete a written summary of his/her knowledge and skill levels at the beginning of the testing period.Students completing the CCET should be aware that the CCET will include multiple choice questions that are correct or incorrect. The correct answers to the questions are then recorded for grading purposes. One of the main reasons to take the CCET is to assess the student's general knowledge of pertinent job responsibilities.Those students who take the CCET should be aware that this test requires multiple sheets of paper. A student should also take the point of care charting as well as getting an accurate calendar for the exam.The Cross-tabble Multiple Choice Essay Test is a combination of multiple choice and cross-tabble tests that will encompass the same concept as the CCET, but will also cover issues such as perception, recall, an d general knowledge. The Cross-tabble Multiple Choice Essay Test will consist of ten multiple choice questions, and will be used to test the student's knowledge and skill. The MSQC is often taken during the summer months as students have more time to study.
